&amp;lt;br /&amp;gt;

Actually I can’t remember how we got in contact with Tim Schmidt. The only thing I know is that I saw one or two of his shows before. And back then when I was sitting in my chair at ‘Wärmehalle Süd’ and listening to the Swedish guy with the German name, I thought: ‘In case I ever produce an audio book, I will need the voice of this man.’ So far I didn’t become a producer for audio books but of course we wanted him for a Musikmob session.
We met up with Tim in an afternoon in spring 2010. It was still pretty cold outside, so we decided to find a spot somewhere inside. In the end we filmed in an old stairwell. It wasn’t really warmer in there but the beautiful wooden stairs made us feel like it was. And putting my shoes off while filming, didn’t prevent the stairs from creaking and singing with Tim in their own beautiful way.

After ‘The Doc Foster Band’ this is the second artist from the ‘Thanks for the Postcard’ family. The song ‘Diamond Day’ is part of Tim Schmidt’s latest release ‘YaYa River’.

From Folk to Rock, flirting with Country, Blues and just the right dose of darkness, the one that makes you smile, Doc Foster Band has many ways to express its identity. Maik Hummel, his brother Jakob and their fellows Steven Krokodil & Erik Dinosaurier used be part of a film group in 2008 when they decided to trade picture for sound and create the Doc Foster Band. Highly respected by the Leipziger music scene, the Docs have proved their experience by making their dark magic operate when they hit the stages around the city and across Germany.

The guys from Doc Foster are unpredictable and so was the afternoon we spent with them in a corner store in Leipzig, Germany. Between vegetables, cola bottles and dry meat sticks the band started doing what they do best, surprising you! Now, see for yourself.

Me And Oceans

Fabian Schütze, the man behind Me And Oceans, welcomed us in his creative space for an early afternoon video shooting & coffee on one of the last days of summer. The location, also known as the Analogsoul store, is the headquarter of the Analogsoul music label in Leipzig, one of the most active indie labels in town. A mixer, a laptop, and Fabian's warm and well-textured voice were all the instruments needed to completely fill the room with music and stories about lakes and oceans. Fabian was gone, he had become his songs, staring at something far away, much further than the walls, as standing in front of an ocean, gazing at the horizon.

Talking To Turtles

It was a cloudy late summer day in September when we teamed up with Leipzig based two-piece Talking To Turtles. With their old but lovely minibus we took a ride to the western part of the city, to find ourselves in a huge and vacant factory building. We somehow felt like kids, exploring a secret place we’re not supposed to go to. The building is all run down in an amazing way: Broken windows, scrap spread across the floor and walls packed with graffiti.
In the midst of all Claudia Göhler and Florian Sievers from Talking To Turtles fulfill the huge hall with the sound of just an accordion, a guitar and two voices telling the story about the fate of a poor lobster thrown in a cookig pot. Keeping their eyes glued to each other, the couple captures a small magic moment inside a large room.

The Great Park

We’ve seen him play live several times in the last two years. And every time he appears on stage it feels like travelling through an old English novel. There he sits: a bearded man clothed in linnen, at his feet an open notebook surrounded by b/w pictures. With a little smile around his mouth he starts singing and seems to be the narrator himself.
On this lovely day in spring we had the honour to film Stephen from The Great Park as well as his flat-mate Fee Reega (which will be published later). Both were going to play a show in the "Wärmehalle Süd" later that evening.
The place chosen for the shooting was the so called "Textilmarkt". We were more than happy when the lady from the textile-store allowed us to film inside - surrounded by little monsters, animals and sewn humans with too long extremities. It was a perfect fit! Thanks again to the lady from the textile-store and of course to Stephen & Fee!

It was late december when we met Kevin Devine right before his concert, once again in the „Paris Syndrom“. Outside the first snow of the year was slowly falling down. The atmosphere in the building was filled with kind of busy activity, people arranging the room for Kevins performance later that night. At the entrance some quite early spectators already gathered, but had to wait until the preparations were finished. And within all this restlessness there was Kevin Devine, the calm and cautious center of the room. Although we obviously didn’t have too much time shooting some good material, he was very relaxed and obliging, helping us to present you guys this brand new and once again brilliant listening – and of course viewing – pleasure.
Good things will come to those who wait!

It all started in late January 2010 with a short message on our Twitter account: „We’re in Leipzig in a few weeks and would love to do a session with you if you see fit...“. The adressor was a band called Rue Royale. A quite remarkable name, which I knew I’d heard somewhere before... So after some internet research it turned out that they were in close contact to our friends and former Musikmob-protagonists from The Black Atlantic. So without wasting many thoughts we confirmed the shooting.
Their concert was in the „Noch Besser Leben“, one of the finest little venues of Leipzig, and we decided to make our little session before their show right in the locality, because nobody wanted to go back to the cold and snowy street we fortunately just had left a moment ago.
Retrospectively it was a perfect evening with a beautiful Musikmob session, meeting new people as well as old friends like Kim Janssen from The Black Atlantic, who to our surprise was touring with Rue Royale... and of course an amazing show right after the shooting. So take a look at the sovereign path our latest artists are taking.

Once again we were pretty lucky with the musician we had chosen for this shooting, Damien DeRose. Only a few days earlier we had heard about his show in the „Paris Syndrom“, a nice little bar in the centre of Leipzig, and just contacted him. We arranged a meeting right before his concert later that night, started to search a fitting location and set off with him to the chosen spot just around the corner... Despite a deceleration because of some technical problems with our audio-equipment, Damien didn’t loose his patience – a big thank you for that – and really gave us some awsome material. Right after that he invited us to his show and we experienced a great night with some gorgeous music; needless to say that the bar was bursting at the seams and it took several encores to satisfy the audience... Check out that they were absolutly right...
